... et Feliz Dia de Madres & Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful women who play a special part in a little ones life! I hope your day was absolutely fantastic!
My fête des mamans started out with breakfast in bed with my favorite lil' man.
During breakfast C told me I'd be receiving my surprise gift soon. He's really pretty good at keeping secrets but he told me he'd give me only one clue... silver jewelry.
After a quick work-out we got ready and went to Brussels to meet my French teacher for a field trip. Several weeks ago our class voted on what we wanted to do and the majority chose a Flamenco show. It was so sweet of my teacher to take the day off and spend it with her students.
The Flamenco show was quite interesting since only 1/3 of the show actually included music & dancing which was wonderful! The rest of the time we listened to two different skits. At the beginning, I thought the woman was giving us a little background information but as she kept talking I realized she was telling us a story. She went on for about 45 mins. Unfortunately, most of the story was above my comprehension. I picked up on a few words here and there.... a fiance, love, death, passion, a horse. And the second story was about flamenco dancing, butterflies, rats, and a cat. I'm sure both of the stories were beautiful... it's just a shame I couldn't understand more. After the second story, my Spanish friend's little girl said (in Spanish), "there's been some kind of mix-up. This isn't a Flamenco show." lol! After the show ended, my French teacher told us she'd explain the stories in class. I can't wait to hear what these stories were about.
After the show, we went out to dinner at my favorite Belgian restaurant. We love this place and if you're a friend or family visiting us we're sure to take you there too! We go to this restaurant for every special and non-special occasion. Everything on the menu is fantastic and best of all the head waiter knows us by name and is super sweet and acts like he understands every french word I say. lol! Today when I saw the sole meunière scribbled on the little blackboard as part of their daily menu I didn't even bother looking at the regular menu. The chef is a genius when working with fish and today was no different. When the fish arrived... head and all in a sheer sauce of browned butter it was pure heaven. Ending dinner with my two favorite boys and a bowl of vanilla ice cream, strawberries, fresh cream AND crumbled bits of meringue was the perfect ending to a great Mother's day!
