Sounds like the perfect day! I'm afraid I would've been terribly intimidated at Dehillerin, though. The tea shop sounds wonderful and I would've bought the Casablanca tea, a few pounds of it. I have a similar memory of lentils in Paris--the best I've ever had anywhere at a little vegetarian restaurant called Entre Ciel et Terre, which unfortunately isn't there any longer. It was a simple, but absolutely remarkable meal. Those Parisians, they can cook even for a vegetarian!

I loved the book and I LOVE your blog post. I wish, wish, wish I could have been on this trip with you and your pals - it would have been a dream. But alas I am here in the US living vicariously through you and missing Paris.

Your post was wonderful. I first read Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking when I lived in the Middle East. I had so much time on my hand that I read it straight through. The pages of her books taught me to cook. I have been a fan ever since that time.
