I realize C's almost 9 yrs old and things have changed a LOT since I went to school but a PowerPoint presentation. Really? lol! C's first homework assignment for the week was to create a 5 minute presentation on what it was like to live in America during 1900-1914. And here I thought we were going to have a free weekend to enjoy some local artisan markets & festivals. His homework assignment was more like an assignment for the entirely family. I'm not complaining... ok, maybe I am... just a teeny tiny bit.
Most of the articles online are written for adults so we needed to translate the information into terms C could understand which he then put into his own words. C wasn't too keen on writing everything in his notebook but he absolutely loved working on his presentation... picking the different colored slides, choosing fonts, and of course finding photos to include on his slides.
Even though it was a lot of work I think it's great that his teacher is already having the kids do oral presentations at such an early age. Public speaking is so important and if it comes natuarally to you all the better. The past two days C went over his presentation with us giving him a few pointers here & there. He sounds really cute - so grown up. ;) Today he'll do his presentation; can't wait to find out how it went.
