Chasing Storms
The past few days have been filled with rain, rain, and more rain. Every night it seems like we're having a thunderstorm more impressive than the night before. If Mother Nature keeps it up, I'm going to have some severe bags under my eyes! I love watching storms! Love to see the sky light up, the crashing sounds that are so loud they make you jump out of a sound sleep, and the amazing lightning bolts. So cool. I tease Steve that I'm going to become a storm chaser. LOL!
But a week of rain is a bit much. Is Mother Nature giving me a glimpse of what I can expect in Belgium? I've checked the Belgium weather this week and let's just say it looks pretty gloomy. Not exactly what I'd call summer weather. But then again, I think the weather matches my current mood.
The past week has been bittersweet. Seeing friends one last time before going overseas. A fantastic dinner with the Poledor's. This family is so amazing! Incredibly giving and involved in their community. The conversation that night was so interesting I didn't want the evening to end. It left me wishing we had spent more time getting to know them.
Saturday night was spent at Teresa & Mitch's. This family always makes us feel so at home. The minute you walk into their house you feel like you're "home". It's that take your shoes off, get comfy, and hang out with us kind of mood. Love it. Teresa made a delicious dinner! My favorite was the cilantro spinach lime rice! Out of this world! Seeing Teresa that night made me miss those days when we worked together and we'd stay late talking about life, art, and everything in between.
Why is it that when we live so close to our family & friends we get so wrapped up in our own daily life that we forget to spend time with the people that matter most? Even I'm guilty of this. But I do think moving around has helped me to treasure & enjoy the moment because I'm never really sure where we'll be next.
